Welcome to Painted Oak Ridge! Located in rural Carroll, Iowa
Our family is learning to use sustainable animal husbandry practices here on our small Iowa farm - our Nigerian Dwarf goats and Kunekune pigs are raised on pasture during the warmer months, and are fed mostly alfalfa and grass hay grown by our neighbors during the winter months. Our few chickens are free range during the day but locked in at night for their safety. Their health and well being are very important to us. We spend a lot of time outside with our animals while constantly making barn and pasture improvements so they can stay healthy and happy! Our goal here is to produce quality breeding stock to sell, raise meat for our freezer, eggs for our table, and milk for products down the road. We love animals and we want our children to learn the joy of living on the farm while understanding the hard work it takes and where our food comes from.
We are Homegrown By Heroes certified! Proud to be farmer veterans (Go Navy)! Oak Ridge ARDM-1 is the ship we were both stationed on (and where we met).
